Much like a dungeons and dragons game- in order to complete a quest in a party you need the talents of very skilled members. In order to succeed you need to rely on the skills of various party members. This also includes race and class features. In this feature, there would be five races from the final fantasy realm:
Human
Moogle
Bangaa
Nu Mou
Viera
Humans are very adaptable, they can learn from almost any skill pool, even though they prefer physical attacker units. They get a bonus in every single stat.
Moogles are the resident scientists, who hold their powers in tinkering with machines and other technology. This also perks their interest in magic. They get a bonus in intelligence and charisma.
Bangaas are the most powerful race, bringing about the least magical aptitude, yet fulfilling the physical unit area to the max. As far as their magical field, they serve as the monks- and martial artists. They get a bonus in strength and in constitution.
Nu Mou are the sagely scholars, and the magically skilled of the five races. They lack in strength, having no physical abilities at all, yet their magical aptitude is as frightening as a bangaa warrior. They get a bonus in intelligence and wisdom.
Vieras are the stealthy and the quick- the elves, if moogles were gnomes, and what not. They favor archery and fancy sword play, and with sacred magics. They are all around like humans, yet they are faster, not as strong, but more deadly. They get a bonus in dexterity and in any other stat you so choose.
Starting classes of choice:
White mage - the classical healer unit (Human/Viera/Nu mou)
Black mage - the arcane artist (Human/Moogle/Nu Mou)
Archer - the first level bow wielders (Human/Viera)
Soldier - a variant physical attacker (Human)
Warrior - a variant physical attacker (Bangaa)
Beastmaster - a controller of beasts (Nu Mou)
Thief - where is my gold coin at? (Human/Moogle)
Monk - The path towards righteousness! (Bangaa)
Fencer - a fair sword fighter (Viera)
Second level classes:
Elementalist - Casters of a pure magic (Viera)
Sniper - ultimate bow wielders (Viera)
Paladin - holy crusaders to pass righteousness onward! (Human)
Fighter - brave and dilligent warriors who carry their spirit (Human)
Gladiator - the fierest inside of the arena (Bangaa)
Bishop - the blessed warriors (Bangaa)
Gunner - masters of the rifle (moogle)
Mog knight - may the bravest moogle win kupo! (moogle)
Sage - bringing magic to a whole new level (Nu Mou)
Illusionist - casters of fierce illusionary magics (Nu Mou)
Third level classes:
Assassin - to kill is your mission (Viera)
Defender - to protect is your duty (Bangaa)
Time mage - change the flow of time as you see fit (Moogle)
Ninja - elemental magic meets stealth (Human)
Forth level classes:
Magus - ultimate arcane magic caster (Nu mou)
Master monk - ... (Bangaa)
(Although it might not seem fair that some races do not even reach forth level... it would appear that the bangaa is the ultimate, reaching through all levels. However maxing out certain skills between the time you can advance... makes it more balanced)
In order to become a master monk, one must first become a monk, then a bishop. You do not become a defender, instead you train in till you become a master monk. Nu mou, no matter what they study can end up being a magus. (This is because they skip out on their third class)
